Is Your Joint Pain Interfering with Your Daily Life?

Joint pains are very common in the present day with predominantly sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy diet. It can be very bothersome when it occurs and can be hardly ignored as it restricts your body movement significantly. Unfortunately resting the joint may only aggravate the pain, as it leads to stiffness and tightness of joints, especially in the case of arthritis.

Joint pain can affect any part of your body, from your ankles and feet to your shoulders and hands. Common complaints are knee pain, shoulder and hip pain. Joint pains tend to get severe with age, especially if you have arthritis or sedentary jobs that make you sit for long hours (IT jobs). This causes stiffness in the joints, affecting your gait and balance and make you more likely to fall.

Here are some quick home remedies:

Follow your health care provider's recommendation for treating the cause of the pain.

For non-arthritis joint pain, rest is as important as exercise. Using warm baths, massage, and stretching exercises often, should help.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) may help the soreness feel better.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) such as ibuprofen or naproxen may help relieve pain and swelling. Talk to your doctor before you go for it, as long-term usage of NSAIDS may increase your risk of stroke, heart attack, and gastrointestinal bleeding.
